Happily Incompatible!

I would like to share with you a tiny flyer from BGEA (Billy Graham Evangelistic Association) that was mailed to me this February 2015. It has a title: TRUE LOVE.
Even though Billy Graham's wife, Ruth Bell Graham, has been dead for years (she died in June 2007), humble Billy never ceases to share the beautiful marriage he had with his wife, (thus, this sharing:  I can't help but share it with you, too.)

          "Happily Incompatible!
            Ruth and I didn't have a perfect marriage, but we had a great one. In a perfect marriage, everything is always the finest and best imaginable; like a Greek statue, the proportions are exact and the finish is unblemished. Who knows any human beings like that? The unblemished ideal exists only in "happily ever after" fairy tales. I think that there is some merit to a description I once read of a married couple as "happily incompatible." Ruth liked to say, "If two people agree on everything, one of them is unnecessary."
            The most important truth we need to know about marriage is that God gave it to us. True love is an act of the will---a conscious decision to do what is best for the other person instead of ourselves. That is why marriage involves commitment, the commitment of a man and a woman to each other for as long as they both shall live. Do you want to know what love is? Look at Jesus Christ.  He puts us first instead of Himself---and that's what true love does.

Marriage is God's invention, not ours! Society didn't establish it; God did.
                Billy Graham"

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Philippians 2:3, NKJV

KEPT BY THE SPIRIT

We know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. 1 John 3:24

A boat doesn't sink because it is in the water;
it sinks because the water gets into it.
In the same way, Christians don't fail to live as they should because they are in the world;
they fail because the world has gotten into them.
We don't fail to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit because we live in a sea of corruption;
we fail because the sea of corruption has gotten into us.
It can happen almost without our realizing it.
At one time we were dedicated to Christ, surrendered to the will of God.
But little by little the chilling waters of the world crept in.
We became preoccupied with the things of this world rather than the things of Christ.
Most ocean-going ships have pumps running constantly, sucking out any water that might have leaked into the hull. Similarly, we need to keep the "pumps" of repentance running. We need to plug the holes with the truth of God's Word.
Don't let the world sink your ship!

"IN the World, NOT OF the World"

       Good Morning here from the west "New World" and it has been raining since Friday, windy and pouring rain Saturday with thunderstorms (sounds like a bowling up there in the heavens), and more rain today, Sunday. It is about 55 degrees Celcius. Cold.
       Just want to share a quiet time that hope will encourage you in your pilgrim walk here in earth as we wait for Christ's second coming in the "twinkling of an eye." It is from the "Hope for Each Day Devotional"  by William Franklin "Billy" Graham, Jr., (revised 2012) by Thomas Nelson Publishers, the day March 1:

"IN THE WORLD, NOT OF THE WORLD
They are of the world...We are of God. I John 4:5-6
The Gulf Stream flows in the ocean, and yet it is not absorbed by it. It maintains its warm temperatures even in the icy waters of the North Atlantic.
Believers are in the world, and yet they must not be absorbed by it. If Christians are to fulfill their purposes in the world, they must not be chilled by the indifferent, godless society in which they live. The Bible says, "Do not be conformed to this world" (Romans 12:2). It is true that Jesus dined with publicans and sinners, but He did not allow the social group to overwhelm Him and conform Him to its ways. Instead, He seized every opportunity to present spiritual truth and to lead a soul from death to life.
Our social contacts should not only be pleasant, they should be opportunities to share our faith with those who do not yet know Christ. As you have contact with others this day, will they sense the warmth of Christ's presence through you?"

1 Corinthians 15:50-57 King James Version (KJV)
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-18 King James Version (KJV)

11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
